Mike "Blue Feather" Wood
After starting out on the recorder and then having been given a small piano accordion at age 12, Mike developed an interest in learning instruments. The guitar followed at 15 and thereafter lute, clarinet, mandolin, violin, banjo, bass, trumpet, trombone etc. . . . Along side of being the Head of Music at Oakmeeds Community College, Mike has sung in Choirs, Musicals and Opera and has appeared on TV and Radio. He conducts various Choirs, Opera companies and Orchestras but still loves the fun and variety of performing in Wilbury Jam. Having been in bands since the age of 15, the love of entertaining live audiences with beautiful ballads, wacky songs and audience participation numbers is as strong now as it ever has been.
In June 2013 Mike was awarded the British Empire Medal in the Queen's Birthday Honours List, for services to music.
